The race today was Jonas Folger's to lose, and boy he did lose it. The German barely put a foot wrong, but one mistake cost him his first place. Marc Marquez was expected a hands down 8th straight victory at Sachsenring, but Jonas Folger pushed him hard. Even though he was in a crash involving Dani Petrucci, Folger stood his ground. A mistake causing him to burn his tires at a turn made Folger lose out to Marquez in the end.
Dovizioso, who entered into the weekend leading the pack for the driver's championship, slipped down to third, with Marquez taking first, and Maverick Vinales second, with the latter coming in fourth in the race. Mr. Reliable Dani Pedrosa took home another podium on his Honda. The title race is heating up, with only 6 points separating the first and the third. Marc Marquez seems confident of him retaining his title, with him claiming to have the pace to keep this going.
