BMW Motorrad has officially started its operations as a part of the Indian subsidiary of the BMW Group. The German bikemaker used to import and sell their motorcycles in India from dealer outlets in Mumbai and Delhi earlier. The company now targets to setup exclusive BMW Motorrad dealerships network for bikes in the country. The motorcycle division is currently governed by the existing BMW Group India. Shivapada Ray will be heading the BMW Motorrad division in the country, setting up dealer outlets in Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. The first dealership will be launched on April 12, 2017 in Mumbai.
However, just ahead of the launch, the company has announced the pricing of 11 motorcycles that will make their way to Indian dealerships as CBUs. It includes the BMW S 1000 RR, BMW R 1200 RS, BMW R 1200 RT, BMW K 1600 GTL, BMW R 1200 R, BMW S 1000 R, BMW R NineT, BMW R NineT Scrambler, BMW R 1200 G S Adventure, BMW R 1200 GS and the BMW S 1000 XR. Though the highly awaited G 310 R is missing from the list, we expect BMW to launch the motorcycle by the end of this year.
