Ankit Gandhi, COO of Throttle Auto Solutions Pvt. Ltd, loves to take up unplanned riding challenges and fulfil them. One such stint involved taking up the Saddle Sore Challenge.
The Iron Butt Association in the United States’ Saddle Sore Challenge entails a biker to cover up 1000+ miles (1610 km) in less than 24 hours. Ankit’s strengths include riding long distances without taking many breaks but he loves to ride safe and go at manageable speeds of 80 to 90 kmph. So on November 29, 2014 (Saturday) Ankit decided to take up this challenge with the support of his biking buddies. He started his journey on his Bajaj Avenger 220 (which he fondly calls as Black Pearl) from Bengaluru, with his friend Shivaram. So he got a GPS and mobile charger installed on the bike and started his journey. His ride route was Bengaluru- Chitradurga- Davengere- Hubli- Belgaum – Kolhapur- Satara –Pune. The half way journey (823 kms) was completed in 10 hours 8 minutes which was a great booster for him. After taking a break for half an hour, he started his return journey and completed the entire journey in less than 21 hours which made him complete the challenge successfully.
He had many experiences on his ride like crashing of GPS, poor roads etc. but he overcame all the obstacles to complete the ride. Saddle Sore challenge requires one to keep accurate documentation hence proof of time, kms covered etc have to be maintained correctly.
The biker who believes in ‘Live Free, Ride Hard’ indulges in many rides with his biking buddies. He is also an ace photographer, a good soul who believes in humanitarian causes and has been a meticulous planner for a friend’s frequent rides, across India. He has been a perfect planner for Throttle-sponsored Esha Gupta’s – 'Beautiful India- Celebrating Being Indian' ride. He is also the Vice President of Bajaj Avenger Club, India which is the largest representation of Avenger across India. A passionate biker at heart, Throttle salutes his passion of riding!
