Naren Raj, a digital marketing professional from Bangalore has recently completed his dream cross country ride, riding from India to Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand on his Royal Enfield 350 cc bike. He started his ride on November 27, 2017 and ended it on January 5, 2018, covering a total distance of 10500+ kms in 40 days.
An aspiring travel blogger and a solo biker, the purpose of his ride was to fulfill his childhood passion of riding. The motivation behind his ride was self motivation. No stories, groups or sponsors inspired him for this ride.
Speaking of his experiences on road, he says that the overall experience was good as his bike never broke down, never did he have to deal with flat tires nor any falls. He was attacked by a swarm of bees on his way from Siliguri to Bhutan, but his helmet and armour jacket kept him safe. Getting permits on trans-national rides is always a difficulty, and his experience was no different. His fond memories of the trip include learning archery- the national sport of Bhutan and camping under the stars in the company of strangers on New Year's Eve in Thailand.
The memorable moments from his ride include Hot Spring Bath in Thailand, hiking in low river stream, off-roading in Bhutan and the friend he made across the course of his trip. He would like to tell fellow bikers that on long rides - Never miss the first opportunity to fill up the fuel tank because it might be possible that you will not find any in the next 100KM you ride.
A special message that he would like to give riders is 'Ride and live your dreams as a biker, rather than being a spectator'.
