The Hero XPulse off-roader makes its India debut at the biennial event and previews the brand's upcoming adventure motorcycle. The new XPulse is a highly awaited model and will be re-opening the two-wheeler maker's innings in the segment. The model can also be seen a spiritual successor to the erstwhile Hero Impulse and will go on sale later this year. The new Hero XPulse will be drawing power from a 199.5 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. The unit is the same as the newly unveiled Hero Xtreme 200R and is tuned to produce 18.1 bhp at 8000 rpm and 17.1 Nm at 6000 rpm. The motor is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike gets a long travel suspension setup with 190 mm telescopic forks up front and 180 mm travel monoshock unit at the rear. Braking power will come from disc at both ends, while switchable ABS will also make it to the production version.
Hero has also announced that the new XPulse will get a ground clearance of 220 mm. The bike will ride on spoke wheels with a 21-inch tyre at the front and an 18-inch tyre at the rear. The adventure tourer will also get a full LED headlamp setup, luggage rack, knuckle guards, and dual disc brakes. The Hero XPulse will also come with an all-digital instrument console and will also get a smartphone connectivity to offer turn-by-turn navigation. The production-spec Hero XPulse is expected to be launched around June-July period this year. That's also when Hero says it will reveal the specifications, features and other details on the motorcycle. Pricing is yet to be finalised, but is expected to be competitive and in the vicinity of ₹ 1-1.2 lakh (Ex-showroom). It is set to compete with the more expensive Royal Enfield Himalayan.
It has also showcased the recently unveiled Xtreme 200R. The bike was officially unveiled at an event in Delhi, earlier last month. Bookings for the bike will begin by the end of this month while prices will be revealed next month. Deliveries of the Hero Xtreme 200R will start from April 2018. The Xtreme 200R will be positioned below the Hero Karizma R and will marks the company’s entry into the entry-level performance bike segment in India.
