The production version of the Hero XPulse adventure concept which was unveiled at the EICMA 2017 show in Milan, Italy will have a lot of common with the new Hero Xtreme 200R, which has just been unveiled. The Hero Xtreme 200R is powered by a 200 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which makes 18.1 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm at 6,000 rpm. According to a senior Hero MotoCorp official, this very engine and chassis will be the base for the production version of the Hero XPulse.
"The Hero XPulse is a concept and we're still some time away from a production version of the XPulse. In terms of overall chassis, mainframe and engine, this (the Xtreme 200R) will be the base for the production version of the XPulse," Mallo Le Masson, Head of Globan Product Plannning, Hero MotoCorp, told Carandbike at the unveiling of the Hero Xtreme 200R.
Although the engine will be shared with the Hero Xtreme 200R, the Hero XPulse will have a slightly different state of tune, possibly changing the gearing and chain sprocket size to give it more punch lower in the revs for better off-road use. While Hero is yet to confirm what changes the XPulse will have, Le Masson said that there are several ways to change the tune of the engine, and more details will only be revealed closer to the official unveil and launch of the XPulse.
The Hero XPulse adventure concept was first unveiled at the EICMA 2017 show in Milan, Italy. The production version of the motorcycle will be unveiled sometime in mid-2018, and it's expected to be priced at around ₹ 1 -1.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the Hero Impulse, the Hero XPulse will have a slightly lower stance to make it more accessible to riders of different heights and build, and the bike is expected to have a kerb weight of around 140-150 kg.
