MotoGP legend and current World superbike rider Nicky Hayden has been announced as a replacement for an injured Dani Pedrosa for the Australian GP at Phillip Island. Dani Pedrosa, who broke his right collarbone in a horrendous highside in Free Practice 2 at Japan, was replaced by Honda’s development and test rider Hiroshi Aoyama at Motegi, who brought home the sister RC213V in 15 th overall. HRC has decided to rope in their most loyal rider to fill I nto Pedrosa’s shoes.
Hayden has already raced in MotoGP this year with the MarcVDS squad, replacing Australian Jack Miller at Aragon. The 2006 world champion has landed himself an opportunity to reunite with the same squad with which he claimed his only MotoGP title in 2006. “For me it is crazy hard work but it is a chance, ten year after winning my world title, to get back to my old dream team. Doing a weekend in Phillip Island on a factory Honda, it's pretty emotional for me to even think about it, and I'm very grateful for this opportunity and the trust that Honda has on me"; quoted the 2006 MotoGP world champion.
