Valentino Rossi may be set to make an incredible comeback to MotoGP action only 22 days after undergoing surgery to have a nail inserted into his broken right leg, after a successful test at Misano buoyed the Italian with confidence that it might in fact be possible to ride at the Aragon Grand Prix this weekend.
Rossi completed 20 laps of his home circuit on a Yamaha R1M following an initial four-lap first outing on Monday evening, coming away from the test with ‘an improved feeling and a more positive impression compared to yesterday’ according to an official Yamaha statement released after the test.
And while the team is reporting that he will undergo a medical examination before making a decision on whether to attempt riding his MotoGP machine on Friday, Italian media are already speculating that Rossi will be packing his bags and heading for Spain following today’s successful test. Having missed his home race at Misano last week, Rossi now lies some 42 points behind joint championship leaders Marc Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso with five races left.
