Triumph Motorcycles will launch the new Speed Triple, its flagship naked motorcycle, in India this September. The Speed Triple made its official debut at the 2015 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy. In terms of styling, the Speed Triple carries forward the same design language as its predecessor, but gets sharper headlamps with in-built DRLs, LED turn indicators, twin seats, bar-end mirrors, a narrower but sharper-looking fuel tank and dual matte black under-seat exhaust with aluminium heat shields. The Speed Triple gets a semi-digital instrument console although we would have preferred the 5-inch TFT display seen on the recently launched Street Triple R and Street Triple RS.
The new bike gets ride-by-wire, slipper clutch, switchable traction control, switchable ABS and five riding modes - Rain, Road, Sport, Track and a customisable Rider mode which lets you fiddle with the throttle response, power output, ABS and traction control settings. Powering the motorcycle is a 1050cc, triple-cylinder motor developing 140PS and 112Nm of peak torque. The power is delivered to the rear-wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The new engine is Euro-4 compliant and has been tuned to offer better power and torque.
