Road Awareness Week : Safety On Roads

There is an alarming rise in the number of road users in the country. There are different types of vehicles using the same road for commuting. Due to infrastructure constraints, it is impossible to have dedicated lanes for motorcyclists and hence they have to travel in the same lanes as other commuter vehicles.
Motorcycle stunt riding, often referred to as stunting, is a motorcycle sport characterized by stunts involving acrobatic maneuvering of the motorcycle and sometimes the rider. Common maneuvers in stunt riding include wheelies, stoppies, and burnouts. Sport bikes have become a common vehicle for stunts.
A police study has established that on an average five people die in road accidents daily As many as 75% of the fatalities related to stunt biking are due to speeding or lane violations. Most of the fatalities occur at midnight, when the stunt riders are on roads and do not pay any attention to safety norms.
Stunting on public roads needs to be strictly banned as it is life threatening, both, to the rider and others on roads. Though, Motorcycling is an art and riders love to experiment with this, there has to be a proper place to perform wheelies and stunts. Also a stunt rider needs to wear all possible protective gears for performing dare devil acts.
If you wish to participate, promote or encourage stunt riding, and help create awareness there are various stunt groups & riders in India whom you can join.
Respect fellow riders on road and ride safely, for yourself and for others!!
