Road Signs Part 2 – Cautionary Signs

After the series of Mandatory Signs, here is a list of some common Cautionary Signs.

 

Cautionary Signs

 

These signs are for the safety of the driver. Usually they are triangular in shape with red border and they are meant to warn the driver about any blockers, hazards etc lying ahead on the road. Avoiding them do not attract any legal action but it could result in major accidents.


Left Hand Curve

This sign is used where the road direction alignment changes to the left.

Right Hand Curve

This sign is used where the road direction alignment changes to the right.

 

Narrow Road

This sign is used where there is a reduction in the width of the pavement.

Road Widens

This sign is used where there is sudden widening of the road.

Major Road

These signs are used where there is sufficient volume of traffic with  restricted sight.

Y-Intersection

These signs warn of junction ahead and where no other indication is given.

Side Road Left/Right

These signs are used where there is sufficient volume of traffic with restricted sight.

Right/Left Hair Pin Bend

These signs are used where there is considerable change in direction  that amounts to reversal of direction (Right /Left).

 

Men At Work

This sign is used where men and machines are at work on the road.

Loose Gravel

This sign is used where there is loose material on the road that may lead to slipping or damage the vehicle.

Steep Ascent/ Descent

These signs are used where there is a upgrade/downgrade that may lead to a hazard.

Children Crossing

This sign indicates that vehicles should stop and allow children to cross.
