The ongoing 2018 Auto Expo has seen the launch of upcoming two- wheelers. Manufacturers have also revealed a range of scooters that will be launched soon. This is the second part of the scooters seen at the Expo.
22 Flow Scooter
Home grown electric two-wheeler maker Twenty Two Motors has launched the Flow electric scooter at the Auto Expo 2018. The Flow is the bike maker’s first offering and boasts of a host of features including artificial intelligence, electric braking, digital console and a lot more. The manufacturer will be introducing the e-scooter in a phased manner in the country with the first dealership coming up in Delhi-NCR followed by the rest of the country. The Flow electric scooter also comes with Artificial Intelligence (AI) for better connectivity. The user can track the vehicle remotely while the Geo-Fencing feature allows for security against theft. Other features include reverse mode, cruise control, drag mode that lets you use the bike at crawling speeds in case of a puncture and SOS function as well.
Honda Activa 5G Automatic Scooter
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has unveiled the 5th generation Honda Activa 5G scooter at the Auto Expo 2018, with upgrades over the Activa 4G version. The updated scooter gets subtle upgrades for the New Year with the most prominent being the all-LED headlamp with a position lamp. The feature was first introduced in the Grazia last year and has now made it to Honda’s flagship offering. Two new colours added to the model are Dazzle Yellow Metallic and Pearl Spartan Red. Mechanically, the Honda Activa 5G gets no changes. The motor was upgraded to BS-IV emission norms last year.
Honda has also unveiled the Electric PCX Concept that is equipped with a high output motor which Honda has developed independently. It comes with removable lithium ion batteries based Honda Mobile Power Pack which can be charged separately or inside the scooter. It is unclear yet whether Honda will launch this India or no.
Piaggio has recently unveiled the Vespa Elettrica electric scooter concept at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018. The Vespa Elettrica has already made its global debut at the EICMA show last year and now it has made its India debut as well. This is the first time that the Italian two-wheeler manufacturer has brought an electric vehicle on the Indian soil, and the while right now the company hasn't revealed any plans for an India launch, the production model of the Vespa Elettrica is expected to go on sale in Europe later this year. Having said that, seeing the wave of electric two-wheelers expected to hit the Indian market in the next couple of years, it is possible that Piaggio might also consider launching the Vespa Elettrica is India.
Suzuki Burgman Street
Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has unveiled the Suzuki Burgman Maxi Scooter in India. The expected price of Suzuki Burgman is Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 75,000 (Ex-showroom). Suzuki Burgman is available in a wide range of engine sizes from 125 cc to 638 cc. For India though, Suzuki will only introduce the Burgman with new 125 cc engine. It is an easy to go option and a great companion for anyone, as it is light weight and has easy to manoeuver chassis. The 125cc version has 14-inch wheels making it first of it’s kind maxi-scooter boasting of big, balky sized wheels and is loaded with a range of features. The Suzuki Burgman Street with its focus on comfort should entice scooter buyers in India as it offers rich features along with a comfortable rise.
TVS Creon (Concept)
TVS Motor Company has unveiled TVS Creon Concept Scooter what the company described as a “performance – oriented, electric scooter concept” at the Auto Expo 2018. According to the company the TVS Creon Electric Scooter is a testament to the fact that electric scooters can be both exciting as well as environment friendly. TVS has tied up with Intel to develop smart-connected gadgets for energy efficient two-wheelers. The TVS Creon is built well, with sharp and sporty styling. So far there’s no word on when the concept will finally see production. From the way the concept looks, the future line of electric mobility from TVS certainly looks very promising.
