Meet Balaji Mohan– The Rider who has attempted the fastest North to South (Leh to Kanyakumari) Motorcycle Expedition in just 61 hours 38 minutes, covering a distance of 3862 kms.

A lawyer by profession, Balaji is one passionate motorcycle rider who has completed the Saddle Sore 2000 Challenge by IBA (Iron Butt Association) Ride in March 2016 and Golden Quadrilateral Ride in May, 2016 and has also done a recce for his fastest North to South Ride in August/September 2016.

With great planning, Balaji started this expedition on his Honda CBR 250 bike on October 6, 2016 from Leh. He made some modifications to the bike like replacing headlights with LED spotlights, radial tires and added half inch gel layer to the seat for extra cushioning. He took the route Leh-Tandi-Sarchu-Manali- Mandi-Mathura- Jhansi-Nagpur, Adilabad- Hyderabad- Kanimetta- Kurnool-Bengaluru- Salem-Madurai- Tirunelveli-Kanyakumari. He reached Kanyakumari on October 8, 2016 and the toughest ride of his life ended on a happy note.

He had to battle gruelling weather and road conditions, including riding through freezing cold temperature, fogs, cattle /people crossing all over the roads from Agra to Sagar, heavy rains, bad roads of Seoni ghat and Hinganghat, extreme off roads, bad roads, and a mere 1 hour 20 minutes sleep with only liquid diet. But he also met some helpful souls across his journey who helped him with the routes and in times of need. And all this paid off well, thanks to his great determination and strong will.

His family has been a constant support in this endeavour and he feels that anyone with strong determination can achieve success. Inspite of a pain in his finger due to an earlier accident, he could achieve this wonderful feat. He plans to attempt few more extreme rides, like a ride from Bengaluru to Singapore through Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore in 2018. He urges his fellow riders to use safety gears like helmets and protective gears and put the phone down while riding.

Throttle Team congratulates him and salutes his passion for riding!
