UM Motorcycles took the wraps off three new motorcycles at the 2018 Auto Expo. The first one is the UM Renegade Thor, which is the world's first electric cruiser motorcycle and the prices start at ₹ 4.9 lakh. The catch is that the bike will be launched in India only in 2020! The name is a reference to Thor, the Norse god of thunder.
The motor on the Renegade Thor makes 30 kW of peak power along with 70 Nm of torque and gets a 5-speed transmission. Also, it gets a reverse gear as well along with LED lights and an optional fast charger, helping the bike to charge up to 80 per cent in 40 minutes. Also, UM will be offering three types of chargers for the Renegade Thor. Also, the Renegade Thor will get anti-lock brakes as well. UM Motorcycles states that the Renegade Thor electric cruiser will cost Rs 9.9 lakh for the first 50 pieces, delivery of which will begin in December 2018. The owners of these first 50 UM Renegade Thor electric cruisers will be flown to Tuscany, Italy, where the bike is currently built for a launch ride and delivery of their motorcycle.
The other motorcycles unveiled were the Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Duty Ace. UM calls these motorcycles as urban cruisers. These two bikes feature a 223 cc single cylinder engine which makes almost 17 bhp of max power at 8,000 rpm and 17 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.
The pricing for the Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Duty Ace start at ₹ 1.10 lakh. UM will begin deliveries of both bikes this year. Both bikes have a fuel talk capacity of 10 litres and a claimed fuel efficiency of 41 kmpl. Also, both cruiser motorcycles have LED lights all around.
UM Motorcycles has also revelaed the Renegade Sports Vegas Edition. The UM Renegade Sports Vegas Edition is based on the Renegade Sports S, but gets a few aesthetic additions. For starters, the motorcycle features drag-style handlebars, TVS knobby tyres, and an LED headlamp. The bike also sports matte black paintjob with exclusive Vegas-themed graphics. The ribbed seat comes with a pillion cowl for added sportiness. Expect the brand to announce its plans of launching the bike in the coming months. If launched, it would be placed as a premium variant of the Sports S.
